There are many ways to go about buying laptops now-a-days. Pretty much what this means is that many different people buy used laptops. Whenever you go to buy a used laptop, one of the main things that you are going to worry about is the quality of the battery. Testing laptop batteries is one of the best things that you can do before you buy a laptop, and if you are not able to you should test it as soon as you get it. If a laptop has a bad battery that does not mean that you should not get it (because you can just buy a new one). But it’s good to know if you are going to need to get a new one or not.
There are many different ways of testing laptop batteries. If you look around online you will see that many different people test their batteries in many different ways. However, either way you choose to test your battery, you want to have something running. Many people think that they can just turn on the laptop and let it sit there. Then after a hour or so they come back and see if the laptop is still on. This is not testing your laptop battery. You have to have the computer running something, and it helps if it’s using the CD-ROM drive as well. The more things that it has going on it at once will let you see if the computer can hold a charge. After testing the computer you will be able to make a good choice on whether you would like to keep the battery that you have or if you are going to need a new one. Please keep in mind if you buy a new computer you should aways fully charge the battery first before using the computer. Otherwise you could damage the laptop battery.
In case you do not want to look all over the internet for a way to test your laptop batteries, then I will tell you the test that I run on my batteries. What I like to do is get a music CD, and put it into the laptop. Now let the laptop play this CD for about an hour. To really see how good your battery is, make sure that your screen saver will not come up for about an hour as well, and have the music effects playing on the screen. After an hour of playing a music CD your computer should have only lost about 30% of its charge. Now if it has lost more than that, your battery may be going bad. If the computer is powered down when you find it, that means your battery is bad. If your battery is bad, it may be holding a little charge right now, but soon it will no longer hold a charge at all. Then you will have to keep your laptop plugged up to the wall at all times. Then it is really not much better than a desktop.
That is just one of the many test that you can choose to run on your laptop computers. It really does not matter what test you run on it, but you should definitely run a test of some kind. By doing this you are going to know if your laptop is ready for use. It would be bad if you were trying to use it for school or work, and the battery was not good. In the middle of using it, it may cut off. Do not put yourself in one of those kinds of spots. Check your batteries first to make sure that your computer is not going to cut off on you during something important.

forgive the dumb question- does the above translate as: insert battery, turn on mains power adapter but don’t press the laptop’s power button to boot laptop to it’s os desktop??
Hey…I just wanted to know my dell latitude laptop after I guess overcharging shows variations in the duration it will provide through it’s battery …….can you tell why? Real guide line for us battery life unpredictable as human life nice tips to check it out.
I also heard that the big computer brands had recalled their computer batteries because of some problem.
