We used to make notice that after recharging a laptop battery for a long time it gets green. It is because a user should replace it more often. The green colour shows you that the battery is becoming exhausted. The more recharges are made the shorter is the working period of a battery. Chief Executive of Boston Power Christina Lampe-Onnerud says:
“With most batteries, you get four hours. A few months later, it’s two hours and then later it’s one hour. The biggest disappointment with notebook computers is battery life and performance”.
HP is known as a user of Sonata batteries produced by Boston Power. HP is going to resell Sonata in some users’ netbooks as an upgrade option. They say:
“It does not come standard with any notebook”.
The consumers will be able to choose between building the batteries up as replacements and taking them as an upgrade option. Sonata batteries, as its producers say, has only one process compared with the common ones which have a number of processes, and the heat which is generated by Sonata, is the result of the generated wasted energy.
A three-year working warranty is given to Sonata batteries. And according to Lampe-Onnerud this period is longer than for other average ones. Moreover they have additional safety features. She said also:
“If it is really damaged, I don’t want it to work again”.
There is also bonus, Sonata battery can be charged to 80 percent capacity in about 30 minutes. And it takes one or two hours to get to 90% capacity for common notebook batteries. In conclusion of this short story it is suffice to say that nowadays Boston Power is producing their batteries in Taiwan and soon is going to make them in China as well in a newly constructed plant.
